Zaki – Tragisk
Translation (Thanks to Polkaface) :
CHORUS:
It’s tragical/
that Denmark has so much and you still want more./
That people watch CNN and believe in what they see./
That mass murder on people equals billions of $ for the American army./
My life is tragical and it’s in fact as standing on a piece of pack ice/
that goes against Antarctica, so Zaki has nobody to talk to,/
‘cus when you see my I’m either nigger (well, a Danish word for ‘paki’) or Paki/
and it’s precisely why I’m thinking tactical./
Live is like a game of chess, ‘cus people are so horny for power,/
only spends time and energy in stuff there’s money in./
You have never wanted to give me shelter. Don’t need people that look like me./
A swarthy that live in swarthy camps. And Dane, you’re scared that we rip you off!/
So how can there not be problems? In Denmark everyone’s alone and/
when you see my color you think that the problems is in my genes./
I always get told that I’m just causing trouble and/
in Denmark everyone has the right to mean what they mean/
except for us Muslims. if you see TV you know that vi throw rocks/
and wish to give our lives for Palestine./
CHORUS
The newspapers wrote that I should integrate/
called me a word with ten syllables/
my children was upgraded from being Pakis/
to be third generation immigrants./
and all the hate in me it destroys me/
You can’t understand why I’m Paki no matter where I am./
Not close to being Danish here/
Very far from being Egyptian there./
I talk perfect Danish, I’ve grown up with all the sounds./
It’s not my problem that your culture is so uninviting!/
Even if I ate pigs, drank wine and lived as everyone’s their own,/
Danish culture wouldn’t ever be mine./
‘Cus my diin is Islam and I’m Muslim,/
and my passion is far too great for this country. That’s why I rhyme./
CHORUS
You know we’re proud as a people and our culture isn’t build on violence but/
knowledge about our Creator and how to interpret it./
It’s the same as yours but you sold it with the welfare state./
It’s so cold in the West, ‘cus spiritual death is far more worse than even plague./
The system here is the best but peoples hearts is gone with the wind./
And the foundation, as me, imported, brought in./
The story behind the story, have you forgotten it?/
In my soul there’s a fire and you have lit it./
and in my mind there is flames and you can never tame ‘em./
and then we’re back to the word integrate, aka. assimilate./
But I unfortunately doesn’t sell my honor./
There’s many nice things I want to learn,/
but I can never be Danish and I haven’t been./
CHORUS

I’ll translate it. I guess I owe him (he knows why.) It don’t rhyme though, but what ever. It’s only a rough translation, and it probably isn’t correct English, but what ever. Here you are:

Zaki may be talented at rhyming but his views come across as being intolerant and the root for further divsion between ‘US’ and ‘THEM’.
Ironically he is celebrating the very same intolerance and division which he is accusing the Danes of. I think that is a shame, seeing as music is a great way to comminicate to broader audience. And he chose to preach racism and cause a further gap.
The lyrics may be strong but are also putting down Danes, denmark, welfare, society and everybody else but himself and those who agree with him.
No wonder this song (tragic) was cut from a compilation of songs to celebrate the diversity and differences.
I dont see much reason to give such a person respect. My respect goes to those who genuinely work towards unity and tolerance. Zaki is clearly not one of them.

Thats a lame comment.. Zaki wrote the song with a special feeling at that moment.. Like when you’re mad at someone, you say some things that may seem a little harsh, and maybe you mean them, but not as harsh as you say them…
You obviously haven’t heard any of Zakis song besides “Tragic”.. You should listen to them and experience for yourself what a great poet and being Zaki is..
